After graduating from the State University Of New York at Purchase, Michael Spoljaric was awarded an internship at the world renowned The Attik, in New York. After two weeks Spoljaric was hired on as a Designer and shortly after that promoted to Senior Designer, working on a variety of media such as print, broadcast, interactive and environmental design. He worked on accounts for MTV, Nike, ABC, Comedy Central and the network rebrand for New York news channel NY1.
Toward the end of Spoljaric’s tenure at The Attik, Spoljaric joined the Phantom Research Foundation, a creative collective of designers, artists and musicians who generate personal projects and also work with commercial clients. With the success of Phantom’s reputation, Spoljaric was approached by the distinguished art and design publisher Die Gestalten Verlag to create an annual of Phantom’s work. Demanifest was published in 2003.
In addition to being a part of Phantom, Spoljaric joined Jeremy Hollister’s design team at R!OT Manhattan, working exclusively in broadcast design. There he worked on projects for ESPN, USA Network, Cinemax, HBO, Volvo and Capitol Records.
Spoljaric left R!OT to join Spontaneous, a broadcast design studio and post house working on accounts for Ikea and USA Network, as well as rebranding the company’s identity.
In 2004 Spoljaric accepted a designer/art director position at Nike in their brand design group focusing on the Nike Basketball brand. Over the next six years at Nike, Spoljaric worked hand in hand with the product and marketing teams on the identity and aesthetic for LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, USA Basketball, Elite College Uniforms and the World Basketball Festival. In 2011 Spoljaric joined the exclusive Global Brand Initiatives group, a small team of designers focusing on special projects that drive global cross-category initiatives. At Nike Spoljaric works in a variety of fields such as Print, Apparel and Environmental design.
